The teams are red and blue. Red represents the terrorist team and blue represents the counter-terrorist team. Sudden Attack is very similar to many other first person shooter games. There are four (when in bomb/defuse game,5) accessible items when in gameplay. The first item is your main weapon, the second item is your secondary weapon. The third item is your knife. The fourth item is a grenade (two if using F401). The fifth is used in bomb/defuse missions. The default weapon set is a Heckler_&26_Koch_USP|C.USP, M16A1|M16, M67 grenade|G400, and KA-BAR|Knife.This item speeds up the rate by 2 seconds at which the Terrorists plant the bomb or the rate Counter-Terrorists defuse the bomb. Team kills are not possible, but you can commit suicide by throwing a grenade close to or at yourself. When you shoot a player in the head, the word "Headshot!" is announced and the opponent dies instantly (depending on the gun type). The word "Double Kill!" is announced when two people are killed in a short time. The words "Multi Kill!" is announced when three people are killed in a short time. There are such announcements up till eight consecutive kills, which ends with a menacing laugh. "Knife Shot!" is announced when a headshot is done with a knife.

Game Modes

There are currently four types of game modes: team death match, bomb/defuse, item retrieval and property defense. There can be up to 8 people on a team. The team death match game mode is a team battle, with the ultimate goal as trying to be the better team in terms of total kill score. The bomb/defuse game type is where the red team attempts to destroy a target with a timed bomb, while the blue team tries to defuse the bomb. The item retrieval game type is when the red team attempts to prevent certain mission items from being taken by the blue team and taken to a safe area. This is essentially an escort-style mission where the items must be successfully removed from red team possession. Both the bomb/defuse and the item retrieval type games can be ended by eliminating all opposing forces. The property defense is a game type where either the red team or the blue team must be in possession of a property for a certain amount of time. The number of rounds from the four types of game modes differ, obviously. You respawn during the single round. Team Death matches, for instance, have only one round in which players "fight to the death." However, item retrieval and bomb/defuse games have short time limits and go anywhere from 5 to 9 rounds, depending on the room master's choice.

Level System

Players earn experience for battles which they participate in. The ranking/level system is similar to the Republic of Korea's military rank system.
Trainee (Skull)
Private ~ Sergeant (1~4 Bars)
Staff Sergeant ~ Sergeant Major (1~3 'V' Levels with Sublevels[Marks])
Second Lieutenant ~ Captain (1~3 Diamonds with Sublevels [Hash marks])
Major ~ Colonel (1~3 Starbursts with Sublevels [Hash marks])
Brigadier General ~ General of the Army (1~5 Stars) Note: These are the top/elite players, and their experience requirements differ as the top continually increase their stats.

As players amass experience, levels are gained. Experience requirements for levels get successively larger. Players are given 10 points for killing an enemy, -2 points for getting killed, 2 points for securing the target in property defense, 20 points for eliminating the opposing team, 20 points for fulfilling a mission objective (i.e. bombing a target), and 50 points for setting a bomb that successfully exploded (or did not explode, but rather, the blue team was eliminated. Points and cash are the game currencies (look below), and experience is roughly given as double the amount of points earned.

Monetary System

There are two types of currencies: cash and points. Cash is based off of real money and can be charged in exchange for a monetary payment, cell phone billing or home phone billing as well. Points are game-earned currency which can be earned for playing games. Points and cash can be spent at the in-game shop. Points are used for buying weapons. Cash (which can be seen as a "premium user"-type feature) enables the purchase of in-game boosts (i.e. +10% points)and special bonus items, along with special team-specific outfits. Cash and points can also be earned through promotions such as corporate agreements between Netmarble and SK Telecom or KTF where a user can add his/her cellular phone number to a call list (essentially an advertising scheme).

New users are given a weapon pack upon making an account. These goodie bags contain weapons with about 2 weeks worth of use.

Weapons are bought on a time limit basis. For example, an M4A1 can be bought for 1400 credits for one day use, 7000 credits for a week of use, 28000 credits for a month's use, and 70000 for three month's use.
